Welcome to Blowing Rock
The mountain dreamscape where luxury living and breathtaking natural splendor merge to create the ideal residential retreat.
Named for the jaw-dropping Blowing Rock formation that perches high above the Johns River Gorge and boasts staggering views of the rugged mountain landscape, the tiny village of Blowing Rock is a beacon for the adventurous at heart. A dynamic terrain of peaks and dense, protected forests appeals to lovers of the great outdoors, while the village’s picturesque Downtown has cemented Blowing Rock’s status as a High Country shopping must-see.
Blowing Rock is placed along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, the stretch of Highway 321 that trails along the southern and central Appalachians. The first European settlers to Blowing Rock arrived in the mid-19th century, drawn to the crisp mountain air and stunning land. Rich in history, Blowing Rock was once a refuge for families during the American Civil War. As the years passed, word spread of the area’s beauty, and after its incorporation in 1889, Blowing Rock quickly became a vacation destination.
Blowing Rock’s enviable landscape has lent itself naturally to the creation of a residential real estate market saturated with immaculate luxury homes. Mountain-style architecture and natural design elements are paired with lavish elegance in these abodes, which are often able to brag both walking distance to the village’s Downtown as well as panoramic mountain views.
